Olivia Wilde, 31, attended an exclusive screening on Friday for Robert De Niro's debut short film, "Ellis," which gives a haunting account of the struggles faced by immigrants, and shared her thoughts on both the film and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

"It made me think of the current refugee crisis," said Wilde, speaking about the film, according to Page Six. "[America] was a beacon of hope for so many ... yet some in this country have developed this xenophobia that totally conflicts with what we're based on."

"The fact that we can have someone running for president who openly projects that xenophobia is really sickening, particularly when you look at a film like this and remember our roots," she added.

The "Tron: Legacy" actress has also publicly mocked Trump via Twitter on previous occasions.

Earlier this year, Trump referred to Mexicans as "rapists" and blamed them from bringing "crime" and "drugs" to the United States, during his announcement to run for a presidential bid, as HNGN previously reported. Trump pledged to build a wall between Mexico and United States to keep immigrants out.

Wilde faced a lot of flack from Trump's supporters over her opinion about the billionaire business mogul and Wilde responded to the "Trump Lovers" with a tweet she posted on Tuesday.

"Ok Trump-lovers, I will do as you suggest and go back to where I came from... which happens to be NYC so I'm just gonna chill. Thanks!" she wrote, according to E!.
