Monday night, following the premiere episode of the new CBS show "Supergirl," star Melissa Benoist stopped by "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" to discuss her character and the new show.

Colbert told Benoist that he "kind of teared up when he watched it" and that he was very excited about the new female superhero show.

"Do you like the idea that it has sort of a feminist message to it?" Colbert asked the actress.

"Of course I do. I think it's great and what I think is feminist about it is that it is for everyone. She has all the same powers that he does," the actress said of her character and Superman.

Benoist has already inspired bunches of young girls all over the country and Colbert shared a picture with his viewers that the actress uploaded to her Instagram account. The picture showed the "Supergirl" actress posing in her superhero costume along with some young girls who also wore red capes.

"You are going to be a role model," Colbert said to Benoist as she nodded her head.

"Supergirl" airs Monday's at 8 p.m. on CBS.
