Two students from Virginia have been arrested on allegations for plotting a shooting attack at their high school, law enforcement officials revealed Saturday.

The two students, aged 15 and 17, were planning on using firearms and knives to launch an attack on the students, teachers and staff at the Riverbend High School in Fredericksburg, Va., Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sherriff's office said, according to the Associated Press.

The sheriff's office refused to name the teenagers in question, explaining that they are not supposed to disclose names of juvenile suspects except if they are being charged with a capital felony.

They are now being charged with conspiracy to commit murder and are currently held at a juvenile detention center without bond, Fox News reported.

Investigators began examining the plot on the heels of a student being arrested for posting a status online indicating a plot to perform acts of violence against students and teachers at the same high school. The student was charged with threatening violence through online and detained at a juvenile detention center.

Pearce also revealed that a second student was linked to details investigators discovered during the examination of the online posting made by the first student.

The school was never on lockdown because authorities discovered the violent plot in the early stages and had been coordinating with school officials all throughout the investigation, according to NBC 4 Washington.
