Police says a Houston teen has confessed to brutally strangling and stabbing his pregnant mother more than 20 times, according to CBS DFW.

"The son did provide a voluntary statement in which he confessed to causing the death of his mother," said police.

The 33-year-old woman, who was five months pregnant, was found dead in her home on Saturday, and an autopsy revealed that she was stabbed multiple times in the neck and back, according to Komo News.

After being reported by family members, police were able to apprehend the boy and bring him into custody, but they would not release his name since he is a juvenile, and therefore, could not name the victim either, as that would reveal the boy's identity.

Authorities say the boy is being charged with one count of juvenile murder.

Estella Olguin, a spokeswoman for Harris County Child Protective Services, said that the teen was removed from his home with his mother twice before custody was finally awarded in 2011 to his father, whom his mother had been fighting with for custody for several years, according to ABC News.

The mother was also in court for child support cases against several other men and at one point submitted to drug testing when the child's safety was thought to be in question.

Records indicate that the boy went from home to home among his mother, father and grandparents.
