Missisisspi State University went into lockdown yesterday when reports of a would-be "shooter" spread throughout the campus.

The suspect, later identified as MSU freshman Fhu-Qui Kong "Bill" Nguyen, had made threats at 10:10 a.m. to harm other students and then commit suicide afterwards, according to Al.com.

Upon notification, campus police were immediately on the scene searching for Nguyen, and at 10:26 he was apprehended and taken into custody.

"Our police department reacted immediately," MSU president Mark Keenum said at a news conference, according to Reuters.

Keenum revealed at the news conference that Nguyen had no weapon, there were no reports of shots being fired, or any gun related injuries. However, various students reported hearing gunshots and claimed there was another shooter on campus.

However, despite protests, shortly before noon Thursday, the university issued an all-clear and suspended classes until 2 p.m. local time, reported the International Business Times.

It isn't known what charges Nguyen faces for his role in this event.
