Emilia Clarke was first named "Woman of the Year" by GQ, and now she can add the title of Esquire's "Sexiest Woman Alive." Clarke, who plays the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, on HBO's "Game of Thrones," celebrated the occasion by going topless on the cover of the magazine's November 2015 issue.

The magazine made the announcement late Monday night after it teased who would be named "Sexiest Woman Alive" with a short clip that featured shots of Clarke. The 28-year-old British actress posed nude on the cover of the magazine with only a silk sheet covering her.

Esquire's Editorial Projects Director Lisa Hintelmann said that Clarke was the all-around favorite choice of the entire staff, plus their family and friends, and was "unforgettable in 'Game of Thrones."

"She manages to bring together a number of opposites, to make them natural: sweetness and toughness, emotionalism with a kind of cold-blooded determination. Something in these contrasts explains her sex appeal, too. She can play queen and kid sister, dominatrix and pal," read the Esquire article about Clarke.

Clarke told the magazine about her initial audition for "Game of Thrones" and her rough first season on the job. She was only 23 years old and fresh out of drama school, according to the Huffington Post. Clarke said she was nervous about the material because there was full frontal nudity, lots of sex and even a rape scene.

"Once, I had to take a little timeout," she said. "I said I needed a cup of tea, had a bit of a cry, and was ready for the next scene."
