Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"

A lot has been made about the new generation of heroes in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Fans are eagerly trying to unearth any and all details about the characters' past before J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." As a result, Rey, Poe Dameron and Finn have been under intense scrutiny over the last few months.

Today comes an interesting rumor about Finn. If you'll remember, one of the lines of dialogue we know he says is "FN2187." As Cinelinx pointed out, FN could be an abbreviation for Finn, making the character's name something of an alias or codename.

"Well, according to our sources, Finn is pretty much his ONLY name. Well technically, he's FN-2187."

If Finn isn't his real name, than who is the mysterious new character. Could he be the son of Lando Calrissian? Someone else?

According to Cinelinx, we won't get any answers in the near future, especially not from Finn himself. The outlet claims that the character doesn't remember much about his childhood and that his name is just his Stormtrooper serial number.

In addition to that, Cinelinx reports that Finn and the rest of the First Order troopers train with lightsabers and shields. That would make his appearance wielding Anakin Skywalker's old lightsaber in a brief teaser for "The Force Awakens" more believable, though it's uncommon for those not Force sensitive to use lightsabers in the "Star Wars" universe.

If true, this sets up a solid arc for his character in "The Force Awakens." As a nameless cog in the never ending machine that is the First Order, Finn strikes out on his own to follow a more moral and individualized path and to find his true self. That's a storyline that "Star Wars" fans both old and new can get behind.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will hit theaters on Dec. 18.
