Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII."

We've heard the line of dialogue before, but the official Star Wars twitter in France sent out this tidbit once again (courtesy of Making Star Wars).

Kylo Ren: "Together, we will destroy the Resistance and the last Jedi."

The way Adam Driver's villain frames that sentence, it's obvious he means the final Jedi in existence. That clears up any lingering doubt about the status of the Jedi in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." Luke Skywalker is the last of his kind.

Rumors have cropped up that in the intervening years between "Return of the Jedi" and "The Force Awakens," Luke attempted to reopen the Jedi Academy, only for it to be destroyed by The First Order. Whether or not that's true, it's clear that the Jedi are on the brink of extinction. Things obviously won't get better with Luke presumed to be in self-imposed exile either.

That makes this teaser clip of John Boyega's Finn wielding Anakin Skywalker's old lightsaber all the more important. If Finn is Force sensitive, which all signs point to being the case, he could become Luke's apprentice by the end of "The Force Awakens." Regardless of what the main plot of the new "Star Wars" trilogy will be, reviving the Jedi Order is sure to play some role, especially if rumors of Luke's increased importance in "Episode VIII" are to be believed.

Back to Kylo Ren, we know that he's a Darth Vader fanatic, but not a Sith. Why, then, is he hell bent on destroying the Jedi? Hopefully, director J.J. Abrams further fills in his back story in "The Force Awakens" so we understand his motivation for joining the Dark Side.

Only 85 more days until "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters on Dec. 18.
