If John Boyega, who plays Finn in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," is any type of litmus test, than fans are in for a treat when the new movie drops later this year. In a recent interview with GQ, Boyega described his reaction to reading the script and it bodes well for everyone crossing their fingers and hoping that J.J. Abrams can bring balance to the Force.

"When I read the script I cried, and I'm not really a big crier...I'm more like a frog-in-the-throat kind of guy, who'll try to hold it in and make sure I don't let it all out."

Boyega also discussed his character Finn, revealing that his arc parallels that of some classic Star Wars characters of old.

"Finn is dope. His story is so epic. It's a story that's never been seen before, but it also mirrors the stories of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. And he's quirky and charismatic and funny. For me, he was the best character in the script."

Boyega might also be excited because all signs point to him picking up the mantle of Luke Skywalker and the Jedi Order. His character is seen wielding Anakin Skywalker's old lightsaber in a brief teaser and rumors have persisted for months that he is Force sensitive. Anyone would be happy about getting a role like that.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters on Dec. 18.
