Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

One of the most popular rumors/theories to speculate on since J.J. Abrams announced his cast for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is if any of the new characters were related to any of the old ones. Is Adam Driver's Kylo Ren a good guy gone bad? Is Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron related to a prominent character from the original trilogy?

The most frequently debated subject has been Daisy Ridley's Rey, as she has routinely been linked to both Han Solo/Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker in terms of parentage. While we still don't know the answer to this mystery for sure, we do now have a bit more background information on her character.

On the newest episode of "Now, This is Podcasting," Making Star Wars put forth unconfirmed details about Rey.

  • "'Rey' is a pseudonym used by the hero in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
  • 'Rey' was dropped off on Jakku by her parents.
  • 'Rey' doesn't leave Jakku because she's waiting for her parents to return. Should she leave, they may never find her.
  • Her life on Jakku, living inside an AT-AT-turned-home, makes Luke's life on Tatooine look suburban and luxurious."

Again, this unsubstantiated information does not confirm Rey to be a Skywalker or a Solo (though my money is on the latter since Jedi were trained to suppress love). All this information tells us is that Rey's parents were either terrible people or they left her there for safety reasons.  If you'll remember, Yoda decided to split Luke and Leia up at birth in order to hide them from Darth Vader and the forces of the Dark Side. Could a similar approach have been taken with Rey?

We can't wait to find out on Dec. 18 when "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters.
