Facebook is providing people who use its mobile application for iOS with a new design that adopts many of the flat features of Apple's latest iOS update, iOS 7.

Facebook for iPhone will get new aesthetics that will make it feel right at home on a user's iPhone or iPad now that the new iOS 7 has rolled out, giving the phone a completely different look and feel. It is also meant to help members get to their Facebook content a little faster.

Michael Sharon told CNET in a recent interview that the redesigned app, will provide fresh twists to familiar user interface elements such as a wireframe look and new icons for messages, as well as a translucent top navigation bar, which allows people to view their content underneath as they scroll through their newsfeed.

"That's...one of the recommendations from the iOS team to let the content come first, and make sure that people are focusing on the content and not necessarily on some crazy gradient," he said.

The company has also added a navigation bar on the bottom of the app's display that replaces both the previous jewel icons that were at the top of the app and the left-hand menu that appears on swipe. This new bar will allow users to jump between their News Feed, friend requests, messages, notifications and "More."

According to Sharon, Facebook tested 100 different variations of the bar over the past six months leading up to the release of the new look. The redesigned look should be available for all iOS users on Wednesday. It comes as a companion to the new iOS 7 operating system form Apple, so users would be wise to install the new iOS before trying out the new Facebook. Both are available for free directly from your mobile device.
