The joys of owning a cat are boundless, but caring for them require some work and effort. Pet cats are dependent on their owners for many of their needs, such as food, shelter and exercise, according to the American Humane Org, but pet care for cats can be made a lot simpler and easier with these cat hacks.

1. Tie a rope on the legs of the table for an instant scratching post. You may use Lack tables from Ikea and then follow this DIY tutorial from Princesse Guerriere for setting up the stackable scratching posts. This hack also doubles as an exercise tower for your feline pets.

2. Create a hidden area for the kitty litter box. Using the space in a lower part of the cabinet in the laundry area or anywhere private is ideal. Remove the door panels and add curtain rods and curtains, which can be accessed by cats without any problems. It looks neat and classy, and provides the cat the private time, too!

3. Using the same Lack tables, create a hammock for your cat by tying or strapping a cloth under it. You may also do the same for chairs, such as this pictured below.

4. Use a ladder as a climbing and exercise ramp. Strategically place this by the window so that cats will be able to observe the on-goings outside, as they love to do this. Improve the ladder by adding carpeting on the steps, or better yet, you can purchase an actual carpeted Cat Ladder.

5. Don't fill up book cases. Instead, leave a little space for cats to sit or perch on, as they love the enclosed space.

6. Don't throw away toilet paper rolls. You can turn this into inexpensive cat toys by simply stacking them in a box. Your cat will derive hours of pleasure from tinkering with the cardboard holes. Attach a bell on the box for more stimulation.

7. Do you have a ruined window screen courtesy of the cat? It can be easily fixed with screen repair tape. Just roll it out, cut and press in place. It's available at Amazon.

8. Condition your cat not to jump on certain surfaces by placing double-sided tape on it. Cats will learn to avoid these areas next time as they know there's something sticky on it.
