Console gamers can now officially grumble as Warner Bros., the game's publisher, has put the lid on "Mortal Kombat X." This came after months of waiting since NetherRealm Studios released the title last April for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and personal computer (PC). There was an expectation that it will be ported to older console versions. Unfortunately, this plan was shelved.

"We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned," the company said in a statement released Friday.

Fans should be reassured, however, that there was an almost valiant attempt to release "Mortal Kombat X" for last-gen consoles. Developers have continuously worked on the game, delaying release dates in an apparent goal to release a polished version of the hardcore brawler. But based on the announcement, it appears that something went wrong and standards were not met. While no details have been released about this, it is speculated that game developers are finding it hard to transition to newer platforms, according to Engadget. Therefore, having to make versions for older consoles must have added to the challenge.

There are consumers who have already preordered the game since it was already made available in online retailers such as Gamestop. They will get a refund through the retail location where they placed the order, according to BGR
