Television actress Melody Patterson, best known for playing the role of Wrangler Jane on the 60s sitcom, "F Troop," passed away at the age of 66 on Thursday, according to Variety

The official Facebook page of Patterson's "F Troop" co-star Larry Storch announced the news on Friday. "It's with a heavy heart that we can let you know our beloved Wrangler Jane, Melody Patterson passed away today. Our hearts are sad today. RIP Sweet Melody. We love you," the post read.

"F Troop's" plot revolved around the misadventures of staff and neighbors of an army outpost in the wild west and aired on ABC between 1965 and 1967.

Patterson, a native of Inglewood, Calif., auditioned for the role of Jane when she was only 15-years-old, but told the producers of the show she was 18. By the time the producers realized her real age, the show was already on the air and doing well, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Patterson's other acting credits include roles on "The Monkees," "Green Acres" and "Adam-12" in addition to the original "Hawaii Five-0," in which she featured alongside her then-husband James MacArthur. Patterson's acting career also included films like "The Cycle Savages" and "Blood and Lace," according to Entertainment Weekly.
