A softball team from Washington in a middle of a major-league scandal has been removed from playing teams off the Little League Softball World Series after losing a one-game playoff. South Snohomish lost to Central Iowa on Tuesday with a score of 3-2. They followed regular pool play during the single-game playoff which was required after Central Iowa raised allegations of game throwing against Snohomish, according to ESPN.

The undefeated South Snohomish team lost on Monday to a team from North Carolina with a score of 8-0 during a world series tournament. The event, held in Portland, that led to the loss of the local team will kick Central Iowa out of the tournament, but will still allow Snohomish to advance in the competition, Q13 Fox reported.

After Iowa filed a complaint, a tie-breaker was scheduled by the Little League International Tournament Committee to fix the issue at hand. The committee said on Fox 12 Oregon:

"The Little League International Tournament Committee recently received credible reports that some teams did not play with the effort and spirit appropriate for any Little League game. Given these circumstances and in order to best determine the second team to advance from Pool B, the Little League International Tournament Committee is requiring that a tie-breaker game be played between the two affected teams - South Snohomish Little League and Central Iowa Little League."

South Snohomish Little League president, Jeff Taylor said: "We made a lot of good plays. We didn't go up there trying to strike out like they're trying to imply. We made a lineup that rested some of our players that had been playing for three months. To try to downplay the accomplishments of these girls is unfair."
