Nate Boyer's shot at actually making the Seattle Seahawks or any NFL roster was always going to be a long one. It wasn't surprising then that Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Tuesday that the Seahawks had released the former Green Beret. The team confirmed the move shortly thereafter. Per Glazer, Boyer took the news well, perhaps even better than Seattle GM John Schneider.

Fortunately for Boyer, the Seahawks brass gave Glazer an "emphatic yes" when asked whether or not Boyer, gunning for a long snapping spot, could actually play in the league.

Boyer, 34, played collegiately at Texas, starting at age 29, after honing his football skills while serving overseas. He signed with Seattle immediately after the 2015 NFL Draft. Per NFL.com, the Seahawks needed to make room on the roster for quarterback Jake Waters, who will be filling in on an interim basis for back-up signal-caller Tarvaris Jackson.

It was only a few short days ago that Boyer enjoyed a "pretty emotional" Seahawks and NFL debut - a debut wherein he led the Seahawks onto the field carrying an American flag.

"That was cool," Boyer said, via Seahawks.com. "I was actually pretty emotional, just because I always think about my buddies who I fought with, or the ones who are overseas right now. And usually in college you don't stay out there for the National Anthem, so that got to me too. That whole thing. But just knowing how many of those guys were watching, it's really special. It was neat." Boyer also took to twitter after the game to thank Seahawks fans and players for the opportunity.
