Patrick Stewart, the popular British actor, has married his longtime girlfriend, Brooklyn singer and songwriter Sunny Ozell.

Stewart, 73, announced his marriage via a picture on his Twitter page with the simple caption "Yes, married." The picture shows him and Ozell submerged up to their necks n a ball bit.

In scene that would have made many X-Men fans swoon, the couple's nuptials were officiated by none other than friend of Stewart and co-star of the X-Men series, Sir Ian McKellan.

"I did my part," McKellan, 74, posted on his Facebook page along with a photo showing the actor sporting his "Doctor of Divinity" license and a T-Shirt that read "Minister."

McKellen reportedly first broke the news that the long-dating couple would finally be tying the knot when he appeared on a British talk show called "The Jonathan Ross Show" and said: "I'm going to marry Patrick. I'm going to officiate at his weeding."

Stewart, most known for boldly going where no man has gone before as the captain of the Enterprise on "Star Trek; The Next Generation," as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, has been dating Ozell since 2009. This marks his third marriage. Previously he was married to Sheila Falconer from 1966 to 1990 and Wendyu Neuss from 2000-2003.

The two had been hinting at marriage in a much more subtle way than McKellan over the past few weeks. Ozell recently posted a picture to her Twitter account of her feet submerged in water, one of the people who commented on the image coyly asked if she was getting cold feet.

For fans of the actor, this comes as a special day as many take to Twitter and Facebook to wish the couple a lifetime of happiness.
