When Angel, a mini horse was born, her mom accidentally crushed one of her legs. Owners Brenda and Lennie Green decided to amputate the leg.

Despite the challenges of nursing and caring for the pony, the couple, who run the Double B Equine Rescue in the western Maine town of Industry, made sure the horse would survive. The couple has dedicated their lives to rescuing and caring for horses in need, including Angel.

"Everything deserves a chance in life," Lennie said, according to Little Things. Watch the video below from USA Today featuring the three-legged pony.

The condition of Angel came to the attention of Gail Fitzmaurice and Bob Gallagher at Maine Orthotic and Prosthetic Rehab. They offered to handcraft a prosthetic leg for the horse and committed to continue making her new ones as she grows taller and bigger.

"She's been wonderful to work with. She is the sweetest animal in the world. I think she really knows that we're trying to help her out," Gallagher said.

With the help of these kind-hearted people, Angel was able to get a new and better life.
