Police authorities revealed that two employees who were tasked to fill empty automated teller machines (ATMs) inadvertently left a bag containing $150,000 at a lawn in Mahwah, N.J. - and a man was able to drive off with the bag in tow, according to the Associated Press.

Chief James Batelli of Mahwah Police said that the ATM workers were on their "normal route" late Monday morning when they made a stop at Industrial Avenue for a customer. One of the workers placed a bag with $150,000 in it on the lawn while he was moving items around inside the vehicle. Batelli added that the driver, who assumed that everything had already been sorted, drove off to the next stop. Both employees did not realize that the bag was left behind until 15 minutes later. They went back to their previous stop but the bag was already gone, according to North Jersey.

Police said they were able to obtain surveillance footage, which shows a man in a white van pulling over, getting out to took at the bag full of cash and then driving off with it. The theft occurred between 11:19 a.m. and 11:29 a.m.

Police added that both employees were interviewed and have given full cooperation, according to WABC-7.
