A Texas man who went missing after he allegedly stole $200,000 from the armored vehicle he was driving was arrested in Colorado, according to police in Amarillo, Texas.

Trent Michael Cook and an unnamed suspect were arrested at a Colorado Springs hotel on Wednesday, two days after the armored delivery truck he was driving was found abandoned in Amarillo, police told ABC News.

"Investigators have confirmed that money believed to have been taken in the theft has been recovered," police said.

The Rochester Armored Car Company vehicle assigned to Cook was supposed to be delivering cash to ATMs when it was found abandoned with the engine running at around 8 a.m. Monday. Police noted there was no sign of a struggle at the scene and turned to the 24-year-old driver as a suspect, ABC News reported.

"Investigators have information that the suspect had discussed how a theft like this would be committed," police said, according to the station.

Brian Keith Hodge, Cook's 53-year-old father, was arrested later Monday on charges of tampering with or fabricating evidence in connection to the theft.

It was not immediately clear how police tracked down the suspects, but Colorado Springs police were able to follow "rapidly developing leads" after they were contacted by Amarillo police, The Gazette reported.

Cook was charged with first-degree felony theft of more than $200,000 and was booked at Colorado's El Paso County jail awaiting extradition to Texas.
