DMX and his entourage are being investigated for allegedly robbing a New Jersey resident at gunpoint on Easter Sunday.

According to the New York Daily News, an unidentified 21-year-old man told Newark Police that he approached the rapper while at an Exxon station at approximately 12:30 a.m. The two were reportedly having a conversation when a member of the rapper's entourage allegedly pulled a gun, demanding that the victim hand over money.

"The two had a brief conversation about rap music and during the conversation a male in DMX's entourage, showed the victim a gun and demanded the victim's money," Newark police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Glover said in a statement.

NJ.com reported that the group stole $3,200 in cash from the man and drove off in one of four black Cadillac Escalades. The alleged victim also told police that he followed the cars and managed to record one of the SUV's license plate numbers.

Police are in the "early stages" of investigating the man's report. DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, had performed on Saturday night in Newark at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Before the alleged robbery, DMX tweeted, "Jersey!!! Thank You!! For real Thank You!!"

DMX is no stranger to run-ins with the law. The rapper has been arrested numerous times for crimes including drug possession and parole violations.
