Comedic legends Kristen Wiig, 41, and Will Ferrell, 47, starred as husband and wife in Lifetime's newest movie, "A Deadly Adoption," and fans didn't really know what to expect.

Up until the movie premiered on Saturday night, people weren't sure if it was going to be a joke and a mockery of Lifetime movies, but the two stars delivered exactly what they promised: a Lifetime movie, according to Vanity Fair.

While it was as serious as Lifetime movies get, it did have many weird, hilarious and unexpected parts which kept viewers laughing most of the time. The movie did take some very unexpected turns and it was interesting to see Wiig and Ferrell take on such serious roles.

The movie is "inspired by a true story" and the two play the lead roles as Robert and Sarah Benson, a couple whose lives are infiltrated by a psychopath, according to the New York Daily News. It seems like a typical Hallmark-type of movie at first until it suddenly gains Lifetime's usual "violent and creepy" mood.

After the movie premiered, fans shared their reactions on Twitter, and they went wild over the many twists and turns that the plot takes, Hollywood Life reports. It received mixed feedback, but for the most part, people just couldn't stop watching it.

One fan even admits to watching it three times in a row. He tweeted, "#ADeadlyAdoption was incredible! @jessicalowndes & the cast were amazing! I watched the @lifetimetv premiere and the 3 back to back encores!"

Another fan, like most, wasn't expecting what the movie turned out to be. "#ADeadlyAdoption was the Lifetimeiest Lifetime movie of all," he wrote.

Other people were praising Wiig's transformation and many were just as shocked as Burkhardt when it came to the crazy plot.

A different tweet read, "Why couldn't I stop watching #ADeadlyAdoption? #TerriblyGood."
