Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson were married for 21 years, and it wasn't until after they separated that Jacobson revealed he was gay.

The couple met in high school, got married when they were only 21 and then divorced in 1999, according to the Daily Mail. He was the one who created and wrote the hit show "The Nanny," which Drescher starred in.

The 57-year-old actress was honored on Tuesday night for her advocacy at the Stonewall Community Foundation Vision Awards, and she made sure to thank her "gay ex-husband," Page Six Reported.

Jacobson came out to Drescher after their split, and they have remained best friends ever since. She is a full supporter of the gay community and even revealed some intimate details about their active sex life in her acceptance speech.

"I have a gay art dealer, a gay dermatologist-not to mention my hairdresser. I have a gay ex-husband!" she exclaimed. "People always say to me [of her ex], 'How did you not know?' He loves decorating and fashion and clothes, but we actually did have sex a lot. I didn't know at the time, though, that in his mind he was f-king the bartender at Olive Garden."

Drescher is now happily married to Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, who owns the patent to email and is credited for being the inventor of the electronic mail system, according to Inquisitr. They met in 2013 when he was giving a talk at an event hosted by Deepak Chopra and married last year.

"Now I'm actually married to this wonderful sophisticated straight man who loves taking off my clothes, that PETA picks out for me," she said.
