Bulgaria’s First Satellite Rescheduled To Be Launched On June 23; Elon Musk Says “Weekend Doubleheader” Ahead

Bulgaria's telecommunications company, Bulgaria Sat is gearing up to get the country's first satellite to the orbit on June 23. After several missed launch dates due to technical as well as other reasons. SpaceX is currently focusing on meeting the mission date this time and set a "weekend doubleheader."

Bulgaria Sat, a telecommunications company in Bulgaria is all set to launch the country's first satellite, BulgariaSat-1. According to Orlando Sentinel, the mission was delayed several times and now, it is scheduled to be launched on Friday at 2:10 p.m. Moreover, at the same time the next day, the backup time has been set.

The report further states that the mission has been facing delays due to several reasons for a long time. Previously, it was scheduled to be launched on June 15, however, the Bulgaria Sat officials rescheduled the launch date, citing the bad weather forecast as the reason for the rescheduling.

Again, the relaunch date was set to be on June 19, however, on Sunday, Space X posted Twitter about another delay. The reason that was cited this time was that a valve on the booster's payload fairing needed to be replaced.

Moreover, Musk also tweeted on Sunday that a "weekend doubleheader" is forthcoming if the BulgariaSat-1's launch date of June 23 is met as it will materialize just a day after the planned launch from California's Vandenberg Air Force base. It must be mentioned that for SpaceX, the Bulgaria Sat launch will be the second relaunch of a rocket booster, following Florida's booster launch on March 30, this year. Moreover, according to reports from Space.com, Elon Musk's company, SpaceX is fully focused on launching the BulgariaSat-1 and getting it into the orbit on June 23.

Notably, BulgariaSat-1 is the first geostationary telecommunications satellite in Bulgaria and it is a sister concern of the television, the internet and mobile communications company, Bulsatcom, which is based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
