Microsoft Surface RT 2 to Have MS Outlook; Tech Giant Hopes to Recover Loss from First-Gen

Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia’s CEO told the Register that his company is working hand-in-hand with Microsoft for the second generation of Surface RT. This version of Surface RT is believed to be successful – unlike the first generation, which is a complete fail – because it will feature Microsoft Outlook.

The developer had finally chosen to use Windows most successful app to convince people to buy the product. They are hopeful that the company will soon recover all their loss once Surface RT 2 comes out.

Last month, Microsoft divulged that they lost $900 million write-down because of the price cuts it offered to boost sales of the struggling Surface RT. So it’s a big reason for Huang to be cautious with his next moves.

However, the figure is a no surprise at Vulture Annex in San Francisco. “Window RT is a flop,” said Neil McAllister of the Register, when talking about the OS powering the futile tablet.

Asus chief executive Jerry Shen echoed Neil McAllister’s notion in the Wall Street Journal. He said, “It’s not only our opinion. The industry sentiment is also that Windows RT has not been successful.”

On the other hand, perhaps Nvidia’s CEO is correct, the addition of Microsoft Outlook will make the upcoming Microsoft RT tablets and Surface RTs more eye-catching.

Or maybe, just maybe, Acer J.T. Wang was being honest when he said in the Financial Times a year ago that Microsoft should not enter the hardware industry because it is something they are not good at.

Nevertheless, the second generation Surface RT is being geared up for its launch. Whether this will be a hit or another miss for the tech giant, it will be a wait-and-see if Microsoft will recover all its loss or suffer another blow.
