When sports teams underperform, it is normal for their fans to be annoyed and upset with their favorite squad and their favorite players. Understandably, Jets fans are upset with Mark Sanchez for his sub-par play in 2012. In today’s world of social media it would be common for a fan to take to Twitter or Facebook to voice his or her annoyance. However, according to NFL.com, one fan went too far.

Here is a tweet from one fan along with the classy and respectable response Mark Sanchez handed him.

It is OK to say one guy should get a little more playing time or say you wish this person would hand off the ball more to the running back. However, wishing for a player to injure himself—and a devastating injury at that—is unacceptable.

Sanchez is in the midst of a quarterback battle with rookie Geno Smith and—just like this tweet—he’s kept a cool head and handled it fairly well.

Although it is widely believed Smith outplayed Sanchez in training camp, the USC product is getting the start in the Jets' first preseason game.

Sanchez recently said he deserved to be the Friday night starter, according to ESPNNewYork.com.

"I feel like I'm putting together a good camp and think I earned the right to start in this first game," Sanchez said. "We'll see how it goes from there, but I have to keep playing well to stay on the field and that's the plan.”

He also believes in this Jets team, which many are predicting to have a terrible season.

"I think you have to have that mentality that this team is built to last," the five-year veteran said. "That we're built to make a strong run, to get hot at the right time, to sustain some injuries and then move on from them. Get guys healthy as soon as possible. I mean, it's natural, it happens every year.”

Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Smith will also take snaps with the first team offense in Friday night’s game. Smith will start the Jets’ second game of the preseason against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Jets first preseason game will be played against the Detroit Lions and is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Ford Field,
