95 Percent of Developers Willing to Update Apps for Apple iOS 7, Half to Work Only on New Software

Ninety-five percent of App Store Developers admit that they are vigorously updating their existing apps for Apple iOS 7, but only 52 percent require iOS7 in order to work.

The results are based on a survey conducted by the Twitterific developer, Craig Hockenberry of the Iconfactory among 575 iOS developers.

Hockenberry stated his own plans to Twitterrific, working together with designer David Lanhan. While he described the shipping version of the app as “feeling old and chunky,” the end result of the revamp in the interface to show Apple’s new design for iOS 7 is “stunning”.

“As you’s expect, it’s a lot more work than previous versions of iOS” for developers to support and squeeze in with iOS 7’s new look, he added.

Furthermore, Hockenberry also pointed out that the height and extent of the enhancements in iOS 7 makes it difficult to support older versions of the OS, resulting to just a little more than 50 percent saying that their updates would require iOS 7 in order to work.

He also added that, “If you’re a consumer of apps, this is great news: it’s likely that your favorite apps will be ready for action comes this fall.”

The bad news is that those who are still using their older iOS device versions may need to consider upgrading if they would want to have more apps for their device. The latest apps are just compatible on the latest OS.

Since most of the work required to be familiar on iOS 7 narrate to features of the user interface that necessary to be updated, games that depict their own interface full screen are amid those slightest likely to need any important updating, and as a result, most likely to remain compatible with iOS 6.

This fall, Apple plans to publicly launch iOS 7, in combination with new iPads and iPhones, and as a pennyless update to present users since 2010’s iPhone4 and 2011’s iPad 2.
