Fresh figures prove that though people are more into using Google Play Store in application downloads, iOS seemed to be the winner with the earnings.
It’s not shocking that, since a lot of people worldwide use Android in downloading apps, it outnumbers those from Apple’s App Store. Yet, Apple is earning more.
It is shown in a a report by the App Annie Index that during this year’s April-June months, Google Play exceeded Apple App Store in app downloads by 10 percent; but Apple earned 2.3 times the revenue of Google Play.
“Though Google Play led the iOS App Store in one key measure, there still remained a wide gap in app monetization,” says a blog post from the App Annie Index.
It is the game applications which helped Apple earn a huge amount of money. In addition, both music and social networking apps also helped drive profit in Apple’s App Store. Nearly half of all of Apple's app income was contributed by the users from the U.S. and Japan.
Games are still the number one when it comes to the kinds of apps people are downloading both in Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Second in Apple’s App Store goes to entertainment and photo and video, while it is communications in Google Play.
Last week, Google declared that by the end of 2013, it anticipates more than 70 million Android tablet activations, which is a big leap from the end of 2012 having almost 10 million tablet activations only. With figures like these, application downloads will only increase. The Web giant also said that it now has one million apps in Google Play with more than 50 billion downloaded.
On the other hand, Apple also has a lot of striking figures to tout. Earlier this month, its App Store exceeded 50 billion apps downloaded, with 900,000 programs accessible. Apple swanks it's paid out $10 billion to developers, proof that it pays to work with a company even if it means 30 percent less of sales.
