Katherine Jackson has finally ended her two-day testimony in the wrongful death trial of late son, Michael Jackson.
"They watched him waste away," she said of AEG Live, the entertainment company in charge of Michael's final comeback tour. "They could have called me. He was asking for his father. My grandson told me that his daddy was nervous and scared."
According to NBC News, Jackson's three children are suing the entertainment company for failing to notice warning signs that could have saved the pop star, who died in 2009 of a drug overdose.
Jackson reportedly became emotional during her testimony, holding a tissue as she asserted that she never saw her son under the influence of drugs.
"I knew he was taking them (pain pills)," she said. "But I didn't know he was abusing them."
She also discussed an intervention that the Jackson family held for the late musician, claiming that he became upset when he arrived because "there was nothing wrong with him." Jackson admitted to being embarrassed that she was even in attendance.
According to NBC, during the cross examination, the lawyer for AEG Live countered Jackson's statements, providing a letter that she signed denying that there was ever an intervention, and also playing a 2010 interview Jackson did with Oprah admitting Michael was addicted to drugs.
In addition to Jackson, Michael's son, 16-year-old Prince Jackson, also took the stand during the trial, recounting the day that he lost his father. Daughter Paris Jackson, 15, has also offered her testimony via videotape. She is currently being treated at a care facility after attempting to commit suicide in June.
Sources speculated that the stress of the trial was a contributing factor in the attempt, but Katherine insisted during her testimony that is was "because she wanted to be with daddy."
Jackson was dismissed from the stand and the trial is set to continue.
