The Washington Capitals and Calgary Flames forward Curtis Glencross may be an NHL trade deadline match too perfect not to happen.

The Capitals, per ESPN's Pierre LeBrun, are looking to add a top-9 forward before March 2 and Glencross, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie, is of definite interest to Washington.

"Washington is definitely interested in Curtis Glencross and Curtis Glencross may well be interested in Washington. He's got a no-trade clause that allows him to specify only six teams that he could go to," McKenzie said on NBCSN's NHL Live, per NicholsonHockey.com.

McKenzie noted that while the Capitals were not on Glencross's initial list of teams, his considerations in that particular realm have expanded in recent days.

"Now, the Washington Capitals are not on that list of six teams. But he is open-minded about going to Washington because they've obviously had a good year and that list was submitted quite some time ago. So while it has not been officially documented with the Calgary Flames that Washington is an okay destination for Curtis Glencross, the belief is that he is open to going to Washington and that Washington is one of a number of teams that are interested."

The rugged, 32-year-old winger and alternate captain has been a Flame since the 2008-09 season. He's proven less durable in recent season, appearing in just 38 games last year and 40 the year before.

He's never been a big point producer - topping out at 26 goals and 48 total points in 2011-12 - but even that element of his game has fallen off recently.

This season, he's got nine goals and 19 assists in 52 games.

He's tough, hard-nosed and gritty though - the type of character guy who does all the little things necessary to win in the NHL playoffs.

If the price isn't too steep, he could be a perfect pick-up for Barry Trotz's group.
