Road Rage: Woman Driving BMW in M25 Attacked by a Man

A woman driving a BMW was asked to stop by a man and punched her windscreen. Police officials are now trying to find out this man's identity who was reported driving a blue Mercedes with a foreign plate.

The woman who filed a complaint to Surrey Police was driving a BMW Z4 between Junction 11 and Junction 10 when she saw a blue Mercedes tailgating her last Friday about 8p.m BST.

She initially thought that they were just going the same way but when the man overtook her and blocked her car, she immediately stopped her car too.

The man got off the Mercedes, walked towards her, then punched her windscreen. In just one punch, the man was able to crack the windscreen of the BMW. Afterwards, he headed back to his car and continued to drive like nothing happened.

The woman, shocked with the incident, was able to drive her car to the hard shoulder of the road before immediately calling for help. She reported that the man’s vehicle has a foreign plate and there was also a female inside the car.

Det Sgt Gary Hutchings, from Surrey Police, said in an interview with BBC, "Forcing a vehicle to stop on the fast lane of a busy motorway is an extremely dangerous thing to do and this incident could have had serious consequences. Fortunately the woman was not injured but she has understandably been left very shaken by what happened."

The police appeals for witnesses to report to them the whereabouts of this man.

M25 motorway is a 118-kilometer motorway that almost encircles Greater London, England in U.K. It is one of the busiest roads in the country with an average of 147,000 vehicles passing by every day.

According to AAA, road rage is one of the serious problems authorities have on the road with 1,500 people being killed or seriously injured annually because of it. If you were asked by another person to stop, protect yourself by stopping in a well-lighted area where others can see you. It is also advisable not to confront and do eye contact on the person who seems to be in rage.
