Bria Murphy, daugther of comedian Eddie Murpy, told "Good Morning America" about the pressures to be be thin.
Murphy admited that fellow models take dangerous health risks to be favored.
"There's a lot of pressure to be perfect," Murphy said.
The model industry has received public backlash for their unhealthy requirements. Murphy said she refuses to "sacrifice her health" to adhere to what the model industry defines as beauty.
The 23-year-old model witnessed fellow models take drastic measures to remain thin.
"I've heard of people eating cotton balls with the orange juice... they did it in the orange juice and then they eat the cotton balls to help them feel full, because the cotton's not doing anything. It's just dissolving. And it make you think you're full, but you're not," she said.
According to Us Weekly, Murphy said models suffer from self-esteem and body image issues because of the amount of pressure they are put under.
"Lots of girls get addicted to drugs and anorexia, it's -- there's a whole list of things, because it's a lot of pressure to be perfect," she said. "It's your job to go into a room and some people will just say no without an explanation, and some will be like, 'Oh, your nose is too big. Your butt's too big. Oh, your legs are flabby.' Like, they'll just go on you, 'Oh, you need to tighten that up."
Murphy's career is flourishing despite her reluctance to adhere to the pressures of the modeling world. According to the Huffington Post, the beauty is the official spokeswoman for Dark and Lovely and has worked with renowned designers. Murphy hopes to continue her career and eventually become a Victoria Secret model.
