A naked Connecticut man allegedly raped a neighbor's pit bull and blamed it on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, CBS Local reported on Monday.

The dog's owner, Alice Woodruff, said she grabbed her gun and confronted the neighbor mid-coitus Monday morning. The pit bull, named Layla, is a temperamental rescue dog who is usually fastened to an 800-pound backyard chain.

"I thought my dog had killed somebody because I saw a man underneath her," Woodruff explained to WTNH. "I started to scream. I had a citronella candle and I threw it at him, screaming 'get off my dog, you have to get out of here.' He said, 'No, today is the day we are going to spend the rest of our lives together.'"

The man then scampered in the nude through the yard yelling, "this is our day and you have to prosper in it," and "ISIS sent me," according to Woodruff.

"I showed him the clip went in, but I always kept the gun at my side while I was talking to him. He kept saying this is the plan, that we were going to die today in a massacre," Woodruff said. "Then I gave him a warning and shot the gun to the right into the dirt."

But the warning shot didn't appear to deter the man, because he then allegedly began walking towards her with his arms out, telling her to kill him. If she killed him, though, she and the dog would die soon after. Woodruff said she feared the man had a gun or bomb that he was going to detonate at any moment.

The woman said she works in the mental health field and felt compassion for the man, in addition to fear.

"I knew he needed help, and I knew there was something going on," said Woodruff. "I have been in the field for so long there is no help for these people."

The naked neighbor, whose name has not been released, is 22 years old and Woodruff has never met him before.
