Marvel fans won’t be able to catch a glimpse of Stan Lee, 91, during San Diego Comic-Con International 2014.

The Hollywood Reporter reports Lee has to cancel his appearance due to a bad case of laryngitis that is causing him to lose his voice. Lee was supposed to make panel appearances and signings on Friday and Saturday.

"Unfortunately, Stan Lee has lost his voice due to laryngitis and is unable to attend this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and has regrettably had to cancel his appearances," a spokesperson for Lee told THR. "Stan is otherwise well and in good health, though he is disappointed to miss the event and wishes everyone a great time."

Lee’s cancellation means there might not be any digs in the Marvel Comics and rival DC Entertainment rivalry. Lee recently joked during an interview with Digital Spy comic book fans would go see the “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” film if he had a cameo in the film.

"DC could probably make a lot more money with Superman and Batman if they announced that I'd have a cameo in it! People wouldn't believe it - they'd have to go to the theatre to see it," Lee said.

Lee is known to make cameos in Marvel films, but won’t be making a big screen appearance in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Lee explained why he skipped out on the “Guardians” cameo in an interview with Dweebcast back in January.

“No, I’m afraid not. That’s the one group I didn’t create,” Lee said. “I didn’t write Guardians of the Galaxy. I’m not even sure who they all are. I can’t wait to see the movie.”

The highly anticipated “Guardians of the Galaxy” film will hit theaters on Aug. 1.
