British Mom Spends Over $3,000 Taking Care Of Life-Like Infant Dolls

A UK woman who is sterile has been able to become a mother again to four newborn babies.

Wendy Archer, of Middlesbrough, spends time taking care of and shopping for the infants who are perfect in every way- except for the fact that they aren't real. The mother of four real children spent over $3,000 to buy the infant dolls so she can raise them as real ones, Caters News Agency reported Monday.

"I just love babies- to me they aren't dolls, they are my babies. They are beautiful and I truly love them. I couldn't be without them now and they even smell like real babies."

After giving birth to her last daughter, Archer decided to be sterilized, thinking her time would be monopolized by her four children. But the single mother later regretted the decision.

"I just want to nurture and when I had my sterilization, I felt a great sense of loss that I would never have a baby of my own to nurture again. It made me feel really low, and very sad for a long time," Archer told the British news agency.

That's when Archer bought the "reborn" babies- handcrafted dolls that are designed to resemble real infants as much as possible.

After spending nearly $3,400, Archer is now the proud mother of baby dolls Johnson, Elisha, Shyan and Thomas. Archer spends hours bathing and dressing the infants. She also tucks them in at night and rides with them in car seats that she purchased, CNA reported.

"I haven't taken them out into town yet, but as soon as I get a pram and I can wrap them up I will do," the unemployed mother said, using the British English term for baby carriage.

Archer, who has two real kids still living at home, used her savings to pay for the dolls. She is now looking for a job so she can continue taking care of them.

"I would recommend the dolls to any woman, young or old, who loves babies and longs to look after them," Archer told CNA.
