"Today" show correspondent Savannah Guthrie announced her engagement to Michael Feldman Monday morning during the show's broadcast.
Guthrie replaced anchor Ann Curry last summer on the NBC show. Feldman, 44, is a media consultant who formerly worked with Al Gore. Guthrie was previously married to BBC producer Mark Orchard, according to The Los Angeles Times. The couple divorced in 2009. But Guthrie is sure this decision is the right one.
"We've been together four years, so, as he said, no one will accuse us of rushing into anything," Guthrie, 41, said on the air about Feldman.
Feldman also called in to the show to offer his take on the future nuptials.
"It's not bad being the luckiest guy in the world," he said.
Feldman proposed down on one knee, while he and Guthrie were vacationing on the Caribbean island of Turks and Caicos. But the couple told the story of Guthrie's shock and confusion and how she waited to open the box because she was so overcome.
In a gesture of support, Guthrie's co-workers tweeted congratulatory messages, including co-anchor Matt Lauer.
"Big news from Savannah!" he tweeted with a picture of Guthrie and her ring. Co-host Al Roker posted congratulations on Instagram.
"@savannahguthrie and her engagement ring. Congrats to her and fiancé Mike Feldman," Roker wrote, posting another picture.
Even heartthrob Bradley Cooper, who is doing press in support of "Hangover III," congratulated the host with a dozen roses and asked for her phone number.
On neighboring networks, Barbara Walters announced her retirement Monday on "The View."
