Twitter rolled out a major redesign for profile pages by adding larger photos, customizable headers and highlighting best tweets among others.

Twitter has rolled out a redesign of users' profile pages with the addition of new features similar to Facebook  . The makeover, which was being tested since February, puts users' information and several new features like customizable headers and larger profile images on the front page. The new design is not overly complicated and it is user-friendly.

With the new change, users will find a larger profile photo and an option to customize the header image, which is much like Facebook's cover image. Twitter now also allows users to pin a tweet on top of the page to give an idea to other users about your interests.

Twitter is also making it easier for users to find the best content, one that has received most engagements by making it slightly larger than others. The micro-blogging site also added three new filter options, to arrive at related content easily. Users can choose to see just tweets, tweets with photos or videos, or tweets with replies.

"Moment by moment, your Twitter profile shows the world who you are," the company wrote in a blog post, Tuesday. "Starting today, it will be even easier (and, we think, more fun) to express yourself through a new and improved Web profile."

The new interface is a long shot from the company's original design filled with acronyms and symbols like @s and #s. The changes are limited to web users and there is no mention of the profile redesign making its way to the mobile app, which remains the most popular and revenue generating source for the company.

Twitter's new web design is currently available to a select group, mainly celebrities. New users signing up for the service will get the new interface, whereas existing users will get the features in the coming weeks. Some of the users who got the new web design include film starts @zacefron and @channingtatum, TV host @nikosaliagas, First Lady Michelle Obama @flotus, Brazilian singer and songwriter @gilbertogil, boxer @FloydMayweather, @kerrywashington, @JohnLegend and music band @weezer. Users can see the new design by visiting any of the celeb's profiles.
