FBI Hunt for 'John Doe' Intensifies, Officials Say Suspect Performed Lewd Sexual Acts With Children on Camera

Federal authorities are intensifying their search for a man caught engaging in sexual activities with a young child on video.

FBI officials don't know much about the man who they've dubbed John Doe, 28. His location, identity and current whereabouts are still unclear.

But now, authorities are calling on the public to help ID and find the man, who some believe has sexually exploited multiple children.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children first recorded pictures and video of the suspect in November 2012. Law enforcement officials are using those images - expanded and enhanced for more detailed investigation - and footage to track down John Doe.

Officials told the Chicago Tribune they'd managed to get a clear photo of John Doe's face, and will use certain clues to help identify the man.

Federal authorities have zeroed in on a number of details specifically, including a unique emblem on an article of clothing, and pictures posted inside the area where Doe carried out the lewd acts.

One video shows the victim and suspect inside a room with a blue sofa chair and a picture hanging on the wall, the Tribune reported.

Authorities have described the man as white, potentially in his 30s or 40s, with a receding hairline and wire-framed glasses. In the video, the suspect is wearing a burgundy t-shirt with what looks like the image of a shark on the left-hand side.

It's unclear at this point where the man is located, as no details found in the video or images connect John Doe to any state or specific area.

Police are urging anyone with information on this man's identity or whereabouts to send tips to https://tips.fbi.gov, or to call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
