BlackBerry Ltd. has added stickers in its famous BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) to make chats more personalized and to improve user engagement of its platform.
The stickers, which are designed by talented graphic artists, will be offered in packs in the BBM shop, in the messenger. Just like other instant messaging service and social networking sites like WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, Viber, and Facebook, each sticker pack offers unique designs that vary from cartoon characters to popular brands like WWE. The sticker packs can either be availed for free or $1.99.
WWE is thinking of offering sticker packs to its fans for FREE as promotion for the approaching WrestleMania 30. Moreover, BBM itself is offering a free sticker pack that contains the well-liked BBM emoticons, and it will be available to all users who will download the new update.
Aside from the new offering, BBM has now included a photo-sharing option in multi-person chats. The shared photo will be delivered in the chat as a thumbnail and can be opened to show the photo in its full size. Users can also now send high quality photos and videos of up to 16 megabytes.
This new strategy of the Canadian telecommunication and wireless equipment company for BBM, along with the new photo-sharing capability of the messenger, is believed to attract new users and increase engagement to the service.
"Stickers are another great example of how we're making the BBM experience more engaging and fun for our customers," said David Proulx, Senior Director of BBM at BlackBerry, in a press release. "Stickers let you personalize your chats and strike the right chord with people around the world who rely on stickers in chats when they connect with colleagues, family, friends, peers and partners."
The BBM sticker is already available for download for Android and iOS devices.
