SXSW Accident UPDATE: Fourth Person Injured at South by Southwest Music Festival Dies from Fatal Injuries

A fourth victim of the fatal drunk driving accident at Austin's South by Southwest festival died this week.

18-year-old Fort Worth resident De'Andre Tatum passed away at University Medical Center Brackenridge on Thursday, KHOU reported.

Tatum had been in a medically-induced coma since the incident occurred on March 13.

Tatum, a 2013 Trimble Tech High School graduate, was one of four people who were killed when a drunk driver plowed his car through a crowd of people during the music festival. More than 23 other people, including Tatum's girlfriend Curtisha Davis, were injured as a result of the crash.

Law enforcement officials have charged 21-year-old Rashad Charjuan Owens with two counts of capital murder and up to 23 counts of aggravated assault with a vehicle, KHOU reported. Police reportedly caught Owens after they chased him down on foot and tasered him. Texas police said Owens, who was allegedly inebriated when he drove through barriers erected for SXSW at Red River and 9th Street, didn't stop when officials told him to pull over.

Most of the victims, some of whom sustained numerous internal wounds, are in their early 20s, medical director at the University Medical Center Brackenridge Dr. Christopher Ziebell told CNN.

An eyewitness at the festival named Pablo Vasquenz told New Day that the car just missed him.

"I was less than a foot away," he said. "I saw some folks die."

Another bystander named Russ Barone told CNN reporters that it seemed like "something out of a movie."

"A few people lying on the street...with their friends around them trying to get them up, trying to get them back to life," he said. "Hopefully, they are."

Two of the victims' identities have not yet been released. 26-year-old Sandy Thuy Le died from fatal injuries last week, according to CNN.
