The police said that they had confirmed that the deceased individual was Davis. They claimed that the initial information indicates foul play was not involved, and the investigation is ongoing.

Although authorities identified Davis as the owner, 7News Miami reports that the property is registered in his grandmother's name. His passing occurred a year after he crashed his Tesla in South Florida and was discovered dozing off on the side of the road.

Davis is the younger brother of Super Bowl winner Vernon. On Monday afternoon, the Miami Dolphins wrote a tribute to their former teammate on X, formerly Twitter, that they are heartbroken by the sudden passing of former Dolphins CB Davis, and they extended their deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

"To my childhood friend and brother Vontae Davis, rest in peace," Maze wrote. "No words can explain how I feel right now."

"You was one of a kind and so full of life. Life will never be the same without my brother. Them FaceTime calls etc damn I wish we could have one more convo. You beat the odds, you made it, you did it your way, it just wasn't supposed to end like this."

Furthermore, Davis' former college football coach, Chester Frazier, also paid tribute on X, formerly Twitter. He said they had lost a great one and shared that he only had good memories with Davis in school.

Davis was Found Asleep After a Car Crash

Davis reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in Broward County, Florida, after driving while intoxicated in November last year.

In February, Davis was involved in a collision with a Toyota pickup truck's rear end on a South Florida county highway while driving his black Tesla.

Photos obtained by TMZ show Davis dozing off with his arms tucked behind his head, wearing a mint green outfit, while the wreckage of both cars is parked nearby.

Along with being required to pay penalties and costs to reimburse the medical bills of those injured in the incident, he was also sentenced to complete 50 hours of community service.

Furthermore, witnesses told TMZ that Davis remained sleeping until officers placed him in the back of a patrol cruiser, even as first responders maneuvered around him.

Davis appeared to have trouble staying up, which was shown in a video of him dozing off in his seat.

First responders arrived at the site of an automobile incident involving two vehicles on State Road 821 on Saturday, February 4, at around 7:51 am.

According to TMZ, during their interaction with Davis, the officers said, "Your eyes are bloodshot." "You're speaking slowly. You have trouble staying up. Alright? You nearly killed someone."
