According to authorities, the shooting occurred at approximately 3 p.m. as an individual began firing shots inside a local coffee shop.

"Detectives are working to determine the motive for this gunman opening fire during Sunday brunch at Roasted on Garfield St.," stated a post by Metro Nashville Police on X, formerly Twitter.

Tragically, five individuals were struck, resulting in the loss of one man's life. Additionally, five individuals sustained gunshot wounds, fortunately, their injuries were not critical.

Another person was taken to the hospital due to a possible graze wound, which was described as a minor scratch potentially caused by contact with sharp furniture.

Lastly, a pregnant woman experienced a panic attack and sought medical attention as a precautionary measure, despite not being injured.

To clarify, a total of eight individuals were transported to multiple hospitals after the shooting incident, tragically resulting in the loss of one life. Upon reaching the location, authorities promptly shared surveillance images of the suspected shooter.

According to Metro Police's Don Aaron, an altercation took place during that time period and quickly escalated to the point where one of the men pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots.

Authorities said the individual who was tragically killed is believed to be the person with whom the shooter had a conflict.

"From the scene, a total of 8 individuals were transported," Aaron continued. Although the motive for the shooting is still unclear, Aaron suggested that it might be as simple as one person invading another person's space.

According to the police, this incident was not a shoot-out, and there is no evidence to suggest that the individuals involved were acquainted.
