Google Now Displays Restaurant Menu on Search Page

Google announced on Friday that they will be displaying restaurant menus on their search page; providing users a quick glance on their food choices before they make their reservation.

To search for the menu results for a restaurant, just type in "show me the menu (insert restaurant)" to any of Google's search products. You can also speak the command, "what's on the menu at (insert restaurant)" and after a few seconds, the search page will display the menu for the restaurant that you preferred. These new search results are only available for U.S residents, CNET reports.

The menu will be displayed on top of the search page, and according to a blog post published on Google+ (Google's social network), it will be complete with different tabs for different food items such as main courses, desserts, appetizers, and beverage. The menu will also show the price for every item on it.

The Internet giant is coordinating with a third party provider for the data used in creating these menu results. The company refused to reveal their data provider, nor the number of restaurants that they have the menu info for. However, a spokesperson did assure the public that these new search results are likely to include most of the famous restaurants in the country.

This newest addition to Google's services is predicted to heavily affect the traffic coming into sites like Yelp and Foursquare. The menu search result is a product of the company's goal to provide as many answers as they could to those who are using their services.

"Next time you're planning a brunch or a date night, check to make sure the menu has something to satisfy everyone in your group, without having to browse through several restaurants' website", the post stated.

This new feature is available for both Web and mobile browsers.
