Tech Companies Pay Interns As High As $7,000 Per Month, New Figures Show

Tech companies pay their interns the most money - as high as $7,000 per month, new figures show.

A report released by job site Glassdoor on Friday listed the 25 highest paying companies for interns, according to CNET. Amid familiar names most would expect to see - Google and Twitter among them - are a few lesser-known, but equally as prominent companies.

The corporation that pays its interns the most is Palo Alto, Calif-based software company Palantir Technologies, where young workers receive an average of $7,012 a month base pay.

Palantir employees provide computer technology and services, and mostly work with government contracts, CNET reported.

The number two spot goes to VMWare, with an average monthly pay of $6,213, while Twitter comes in close third at $6,791. LinkedIn's up next, with $6230, then Facebook, which pays its interns around $6,213.

Other companies that made the list included Microsoft, Ebay, Google, Apple, Amazon, and Nvidia.

A few oil and gas corporations were catalogued as well - Exxon Mobil and Chevron among them.

For its study, Glassdoor also requested detailed accounts on work environments.

"Work is motivated by a real mission," one support engineer intern working for Palantir wrote. "Very few people are there just for money.

A research intern for Microsoft said the car rental and housing perks were enticing aspects of the job.
