Robin Thicke is desperately trying to save his marriage to actress Paula Patton. Sources close to the "Blurred Lines" singer told TMZ that Thicke canceled his concert in Atlanta and flew to Vancouver, Canada to talk to his wife.

Reportedly Patton was the one who initiated the separation. According to TMZ, on Feb. 22 she told her husband of eight years that she wanted to end the marriage. Thicke blamed the canceled concert on "throat problems" but really wanted to try and change Patton's mind.

The two reportedly had a long talk and admitted that they hadn't been getting along lately. Sources claim once Thicke realized the actress was done with the marriage, he reluctantly agreed to a separation. On Monday, Feb. 24 the two announced their split in a joint statement.

"We will always love each other and be best friends," the statement read, US Weekly reports. "However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."

Over the weekend, he canceled his concert in Orlando so he could spend time with their three-year-old son Julian. The news of a separation didn't come as a surprise. It's been rumored for months that Thicke and Patton's marriage was on the rocks after he was photographed partying with other women.

According to a report by gossip site MediaTakeOut, sources close to the "Baggage Claim" actress said one reason for the split was because of Thicke's ego.

"Robin always thought highly of himself, but ever since [his recent hit single] 'Blurred Lines,' the man has taken it up to LEVEL 10," the source said. "Robin has been openly cheating on Paula. He's not trying to be subtle about it, he's trying to f**k anything walking."

The source also added that the two reconciling is "unlikely" because "she's done with him."
