The energy regulator OFGEM has brought forward the announcement of the increase in the energy price cap to reflect the record high gas energy market prices caused by the global crisis in supply.

According to The New York Post, some Republican lawmakers are not happy with the proposed clampdown of the Biden Administration on water heaters in the U.S.

One of them is GOP member Thomas Massie. He said that the U.S. government should leave Americans alone when it comes to water heaters.

"These products already exist in the free market," he said via his official Twitter post

"Consumers should decide whether the upfront cost of a heat-pump water heater is worth the possible long-term savings," he added.

Massie further explained that monthly savings don't usually cover the upfront cost of new appliances in the U.S.

Based on Americans' statements on Twitter, they are concerned that the government will want them to purchase water heaters that "don't fully and quickly heat."

Aside from this, they are also concerned about the upfront costs they need to cover when buying new water heaters that will comply with the Biden Admin's new energy efficiency standards.
