Jennifer Garner attends the Apple TV+ 2023 TCA Winter Press Tour at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena on January 18, 2023 in Pasadena, California.

Deadpool 3 was already set to include the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, but now an unexpected superhero has joined in on the fun.

Jennifer Garner has been cast to bring back her role as Elektra in a film that is now shooting and set for release on May 3, 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie being shot right now is directed by Shawn Levy.

Jennifer Garner as Elektra in 'Deadpool 3'

Daredevil, starring Ben Affleck, was the first time Garner portrayed the role. Despite the film's lackluster box office performance, she was given a spinoff starring in 2005. People appreciated her portrayal of the character, but they did not like the films. She will be back in the cast, this time with Ryan Reynolds (as Deadpool) and Jackman (as Wolverine).

However, Gizmodo said that Garner's screen time in the film had not been revealed. Since Deadpool 3 will undoubtedly be satirical and aware that Garner is from another section of the Marvel Universe, her appearance in the film either plays a significant role in the plot or be a witty cameo.

But, similar to Alfred Molina's participation (as Dr. Otto Octavius) in Spider-Man: No Way Home paved the way for the appearances of many more characters and actors from Marvel's history, will her addition make it happen, too?

Who Is Elektra?

Elektra Natchios is the epitome of the antihero. She is a violent, lethal woman with a mysterious background who is driven more by vengeance than by any sense of righteous indignation.

Elektra is a skilled assassin who underwent training by Stick before she joined the benevolent organization Chaste. She was on a mission to recruit Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, for Stick when she fell in love with him.

She reappeared in his life after a long absence, bringing with her practices and perspectives that directly opposed his. She was later shown to possibly be the Black Sky, the one in charge of the Hand.

Elektra decided to side with Murdock against the evil organization, but Nobu Yoshioka slew her in the final showdown. The Hand dug up Elektra's body and put it in a stone room where it would be subjected to the Resurrection Elixir.

After her resurrection, she was tricked and adopted by Alexandra Reid, who retrained her to become the Black Sky.

More Trivias About Elektra

In anticipation of Elektra's return, here are some interesting facts from Screen Rant about her.

Elektra's mental condition is a constant battle. It is understandable, though, that she might have difficulty adjusting at times, given her tragic past.

She is not a superpowered hero. She has no special abilities beyond her superior martial arts training and commitment to the craft. However, hanging out with ethereal ninjas has changed her from a regular girl to something more.

She served for Kingpin. The Kingpin is Daredevil's archenemy. As expected, this caused tension between her and Daredevil.

In 1981, when Elektra was initially created, she was meant to appear in a single issue of Daredevil. Even though it was supposed to be Elektra's only appearance, she stuck around for quite some time.
