"Great meeting you today @elonmusk! We had multifaceted conversations on issues ranging from energy to spirituality," said the Indian prime minister via his official Twitter post.

Elon Musk replied that it was an honor to be able to talk with the leader.

Recently, the tech executive shared his interest in entering India, which is one of the largest EV markets. However, Indian officials and Tesla were not able to close an agreement over the sourcing vehicles.

This prevented the giant automaker from entering the country. Indian officials said that if Tesla wants to enter the country, electric cars should be manufactured locally.

However, the EV developer said that it wants to market exported units first to check if the demand is high.

Now, thanks to the meeting with Prime Minister Modi, it looks like Tesla can soon start investing in the country.

Elon Musk To Make EV Investments in India

During their talk, Elon Musk said that the Indian prime minister is pushing him to make significant investments in the country.

One of these investments is expected to be a new manufacturing EV base. Musk explained that India has a strong potential for a sustainable energy future.

This means that India is a great country for stationary battery packs, electric vehicles, as well as solar power, as reported by Reuters

"He really cares about India because he's pushing us to make significant investments in India, which is something we intend to do," said the billionaire during their meeting.

As of writing, Musk hasn't confirmed when his Tesla investments in India will begin. But, the tech executive said that an announcement would be provided soon.
