According to CNET, Apple has revealed that it is finally addressing the long-standing autocorrect issue on its iPhones, specifically the annoying tendency to replace the word "f*cking" with "ducking."

The "ducking" autocorrect problem gained significant attention and became a frequent source of amusement and annoyance among iPhone users. Typing a message that includes the word "f*ck" often resulted in an entirely different word, which makes no sense.

To address this issue, iPhone users had to turn off autocorrect altogether. But with the upcoming release of iOS 17, users can bid farewell to this frustration.

9News Australia reports that Craig Federighi, the Apple Vice President for Software Engineering, acknowledged the widespread concern among iPhone users, wherein autocorrect insists on the word "ducking."

The Apple Software Engineering VP says, "In those moments where you just want to type a ducking word, the keyboard will learn it too."

During the packed WWDC event, Apple introduced new exciting features for the next iOS update. One of the notable additional offerings is the Live Voicemail, which lets users read their voicemail in real-time. There is also a new Journal app, among other refinements.

On top of these features and apps, the iOS 17 is also home to the newly improved iPhone keyboard. The best part is that it made cussing slightly easier this time around. The new keyboard relies on a transformer model, which the ChatGPT maker OpenAI also turns to for their language model. It then helps the virtual keyboard better predict what iPhone users are trying to say.

The suggestions, which include whole phrases, names, and even curse words, are all based on what users have previously typed on their iPhones. As per CBS News, Federighi claims the new autocorrect feature is set to "improve the experience every time you type." He explains that it is all thanks to the all-new "state-of-the-art" machine learning system that the iPhone maker employs.

It is about "ducking" time that Apple improves its iPhone autocorrect system. The 'ducking' autocorrect issue is finally bidding farewell once iOS 17 starts rolling out to iPhone users.

Apple is dishing out the public beta as early as next month or in July. Meanwhile, the general stable release of the mobile operating system starts this September in time for the much-awaited release of the iPhone 15 lineup.
