ATLANTA, GA - MAY 3: A woman in scrubs talks on the phone as police officers work the scene of a shooting at a Northside Hospital medical facility on May 3, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. Police say one person was killed and four others injured in the shooting and the suspect is still at large.

As per the New York Times, the gunman, Deion Patterson, who kick-started a shooting incident at a medical facility in Midtown Atlanta, has left one dead and four others hurt. But after an hours-long search, the suspect ended up in the custody of the authorities.

One of the victims is a 39-year-old woman killed after the gunman opened fire at them. Meanwhile, the shooting incident left four other women injured. The hurt victims range from 25 to 71 years old. It includes a 56-year-old and a 39-year-old woman, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum says, according to NPR.

As the Atlanta shooting incident investigation is still rolling, it has yet to be determined if the five victims were targets of the suspected gunman. It is also possible that they were merely bystanders during the firing fiasco. The police did not disclose if they were patients or employees of the medical facility.

NPR notes that after the shooting incident, the suspect fled upon hijacking a vehicle, the Cobb County Police Department disclosed. Authorities say that the suspect, Patterson, fled the scene after carjacking a vehicle at around 12:30 pm, CNN reports.

At roughly 2:30 pm, the Cobb County Police started kicking off the manhunt after learning that Patterson was possibly in the area. From there, they found the hijacked vehicle in a parking garage near Truist Park, the Cobb County Police Sgt. Wayne Delk says.

After recovering the vehicle he used to escape the shooting scene, the authorities caught the suspect in a residential condominium near the baseball stadium of the Atlanta Braves, Truist Park.
